I consulted Dr. Sudheer Dara primarily due to his reputation. However, my experience did not meet expectations. I found the examination and case analysis insufficiently thorough. The consultation session felt rushed, and despite the high fee (Rs. 2000/-), I was not given adequate opportunity to explain my condition or ask questions. Important concerns mentioned in my 3D-CT and MRI reports—such as labral tears, ligamentum teres tear, synovitis, effusion, subluxation, and bone edema—were dismissed without detailed discussion. I was also advised to undergo an ultrasound to reconfirm findings that were already clearly established through MRI and 3D-CT imaging.
While I understand that Dr. Dara’s core expertise lies in Neurology, it was disappointing to see no consideration given to the opinions and evaluations provided by experienced orthopedists, especially when these were evidence-based and aligned with the diagnostic reports. Given the extent of structural hip damage visible in my scans, I expected a more integrated, multidisciplinary view.
The consultation did not feel patient-centric. There was limited listening, inadequate explanation of his clinical reasoning, and a strong inclination toward a predetermined conclusion, leaving me feeling unheard.
Additionally, the hygiene standards in the ultrasound room were concerning. All patients were asked to lie on the same cotton bedsheet and pillow without disposable covers, which is against basic infection-control practices followed in most reputable hospitals and diagnostic centers. The restroom facilities were also poorly maintained.
On a positive note, I had a brief interaction with Dr. Vidya Bandaru at Epione and found her approach far more patient-friendly. She listened carefully, took time to think through the case, and responded thoughtfully. Her attitude toward patient engagement was noticeably better.
Overall, my consultation experience with Dr. Sudheer Dara was unsatisfactory, and I hope these observations help in improving patient care and clinical communication.
