How Often Should Adults Get a Hearing Test?
Many adults wait years before checking their hearing — but regular testing is important for maintaining communication, brain health, and quality of life.
General guidelines:
✔ Ages 18–40: every 3–5 years if you have no concerns
✔ Ages 40–60: every 2–3 years
✔ Over 60: every year
✔ Any age: sooner if you notice changes in hearing
You should book a hearing test sooner if you notice:
• Asking people to repeat themselves
• Turning the TV up louder than others prefer
• Difficulty hearing in restaurants or groups
• Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
