It's Older Americans Month!
Older Americans Month is an annual observance that is a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions and achievements of older adults in society. The tradition dates back to 1963, when President John F. Kennedy declared May as Senior Citizens Month.
In 1980, the observance was renamed to Older Americans Month to reflect the changing attitudes and lifestyles of older Americans. The Administration for Community Living, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, leads the observance each year and promotes activities and events that honor older adults and their continued importance to our communities.
