Los Gatos is a town of layered beauty and architectural richness, with historic Victorians, rustic bungalows, and nestled between them, rare mid-century modern gems that feel as fresh today as they did 60 years ago. These homes, with their low-slung lines, indoor-outdoor harmony, and minimalist elegance, are the hidden heartbeat of modern design in Silicon Valley. As the original Property Nerds, the Boyenga Team has spent decades unearthing, preserving, and celebrating these architectural treasures.
Historical Roots of Modernism in Los Gatos
Post-WWII optimism and the California boom birthed a generation of design innovation, and while Los Gatos didn’t see massive Eichler subdivisions, it became a fertile ground for architect-driven, small-scale modernist tracts and custom homes. Developers inspired by Joseph Eichler and the Bauhaus movement saw an opportunity to introduce radical new design language in a traditionally conservative town. These efforts were smaller in scale but monumental in impact.
