My fiance and I did the cooking class with Nesu and Shani (mother and daughter) whilst we were staying in Sigirya and we were absolutely blown away. The kitchen is at the rear of their home and everything is cooked over fire using coconut shells. The setting is unreal!
It was a brilliant, immersive experience where were shown how prepare rice from the husk. We also made 3 different curries, dhal, numerous salads, sambas, and coconut rice.
All of the ingredients including the spices are grown on their land, and you can tell by how they taste!
When the course is finished you then get to enjoy the most extraordinary meal which you have helped prepare.
The best thing about the experience is Nesu and Shani who are the warmest, kindest people. A truly unforgettable experience. Please, if you are in the area make sure you go and do this.
