Die Cutting and Die Making- How is it done?
The initial stage of badge making is when the metal is carved to create the design over it. The process follows once the badge designs are approved. After that, the badge-making process starts with cutting the die. The whole process involves a few steps that are conducted to achieve the desired metal die:
Transferring the design: In this process, a pantograph milling machine transfers the design to a block of metal. This machine cuts and drills the metal to carve the design.
Engraving and drilling: Depending on the design's complexity, this design may take a few hours to days. The drilling and engraving remove the extra metal, making the design appear on the metal as a negative image, making the metal a die.
Heat treatment: The metal block is now heated until it turns orange to make it hard. Depending on the metal material and thickness, this process might end in 24 hours. The heated die is dipped in oil to cool it, and this process is repeated several times to make it harder.
Preparing the cutting machine: A cutting tool is prepared for the stamping method. After the design is stamped on the metal, this tool cuts and gives the desired shape to the badge.
The die-cutting and die-making process ensures the durability of the metal badge.
