EA Technology is delighted to present our findings on an interesting project. This project was necessary due to the increasing challenges Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) face in balancing network upgrades to reduce fault-related outages with the downtime needed for reinforcements. To measure the level of disruption to customers, #DNOs record Customer Minutes Lost (CML) and Customer Interruptions (CI).
To understand the existing CML and CI baseline, EA Technology reviewed historical outage data, including the types of outages, their length, the assets involved and their impact on customer supply. Both planned and unplanned outages were reviewed to provide a breakdown of where interventions may reduce a specific type of outage.
