Our builder recommended Dreams for bifolds for our kitchen renovation. The day before installation we were advised the machine that makes them was broken and they were waiting for an engineer so they couldn’t come. They came 2 weeks later but by this time our builder had gone on holiday. The doors were fitted but a few days later I noticed the sealant outside was a mess so I called to see if they could sort it. I was told to send photos but then had to keep chasing to get a date to rectify, I was told the engineer had to book the date. At one point I was told they have to prioritise customers whose doors don’t work, I understood this but it took 3 weeks to get it sorted. The doors were fitted in October so were only opened a handful of times until the nice weather arrived in April. When we started using them, we noticed they seemed to catch and didn’t open easily so on Friday 25th April I called. I was told Karen who I needed to speak would call me back. I waited all day but got no call so that evening I emailed. On the Monday I received an email back advising that they were waiting for the engineer to come back with availability and they would call me. I also said I was only free on Thursdays and Fridays.. On the Thursday I opened the bifolds to remove a sofa from our kitchen and could not close them again, they were catching on the bottom. I called again and said I couldn't close them and was told quite abruptly ‘I suggest you don’t open them’!! Also they couldn’t do anything as the engineer was on holiday till Tuesday, which was never mentioned earlier in the week. We had to remove a bit of plastic from the doors to shut them. The following week I waited all week for a call but none came so I called them again. I was then told someone could come on Wednesday, I said there was no one home and could they come Thursday or Friday but was told that wasn’t an option. I said I’d get my son who works from home round the corner to let them in if they could ring him first. At 8:15 on the Wednesday morning I got a call at work to say they wouldn’t be coming as someone was off sick. I was told I’d get a call on the Thursday to let me know when they could come. I waited till 4:30 on the Thursday but no call. I then sent an email stating the previous issues I’d had and saying I’d been more than patient but please could they book me in and listed all the days during May that someone would be home. Ten minutes later I received a phone call from Karen, her opening line was ‘I’m very disappointed in your email’. She then told me I’d got her in trouble as they were doing me a favour as I wasn’t their customer, the builder was. I’d paid them directly and signed the order confirmation. She said she hadn’t called me earlier as she’d been busy with customers but as I’d been let down the day before, ringing me back on Thursday morning should have been a priority. She said someone would visit on the Friday. He turned up on the Friday and said ‘ Oh, you’ve fitted these yourself’ I said we hadn’t, they had. It turned out our builder hadn’t put in any sort of lintel so the doors weren’t secured at the top and they were sagging. He said their guys would have told the builder at the time, I told him the builder wasn’t there!! I said surely they shouldn’t have fitted them but he changed the subject and said it could be easily fixed. He said he’d sort a report out and they’d get back to me. I have heard nothing since!! I then got a couple of other builders out to look at the job as I had lots of issues with my original builder. I had a steel plate welded in then got another glazing company in to look at securing the doors. They advised the doors had been fitted flush to the outside wall which was incorrect and could cause damp. I have had to have some of my flooring uplifted and they came yesterday and removed and re-situated my doors. They have secured them all round and they now work beautifully and look right. Apparently the fitting of the doors was very poor. Obviously all this work has come within a big cost but at least they are now right.
