Spent my whole trip in Barbados surfing with the school/shop and they were so much fun! They were very accommodating to me as well when I wanted to rent the board early in the morning before their shop opens by paying them the day before and keeping it overnight. My dad and I took lessons with them also and they were very supportive. They were also very supportive of me even when I simply rented and went with them to the surf spots. Amazing people and atmosphere, bought a lot of gear and clothing at the shop (amazing!) and took surfing lessons 3 days in a row with Nick. Nick is hands down the best surfing teacher ever! Yet another great time surfing with the best crew on the island. Friendly and adaptable to all skill levels plus a great selection of boards and breaks makes sure everyone in the group has a great time. I highly recommend them for all ages. Props to Russ, Nick, Axe and Jasmine for making my trips memorable every time.

I am so happy that I was able to book a morning surfing class session on my last day in Barbados. Axe the instructor was a great teacher and real pro. Catching a few waves in the beautiful warm water was such a thrill. Highly recommend!!

The best surfing instruction I've ever had! I spent 3 fantastic days honing my skills with my instructor Axe whose positive attitude and helpful tips gave me the skills and confidence I needed to up my level of surfing. I also can't say enough about how helpful and fun the staff were at the shop as well. If you're looking to learn how to surf or get to that next level of surfing in Barbados, Dread or Dead is the place to do that! Thanks again Axe, I had a blast.

We had 5 of us that took surf lessons and all 5 were all standing up and surfing after one lesson. Axe and the other instructors were amazing they made it so fun and easy for my kids to learn. Thank you so much. The woman in the shop was so sweet and such a doll and so helpful . This is the shop I recommend for sure!!!

This shop is hands down the best surf shop with the best service I’ve ever been to. Ace, Russell, and Jasmine are super cool, incredibly genuine, and very helpful. I cannot recommend this shop more highly. Super knowledgeable, helpful, kind and simply fantastic people. If you’re in Barbados and want to learn to surf or get insights into the different breaks the island offers, you should most definitely select Dread or Dead Surf Shop. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Amazing lessons for myself and my son today. Will be sure to return when I come back to Barbados. Axe is a brilliant instructor, always giving positive feedback for each ride and helped overcome errors we made. Check them out before looking elsewhere, boards all in great condition, ride to the beaches from the shop and it was $15 cheaper than everyone else I'd looked at. For any skeptical dad's out there, just go for it. I've not skated or surfed in 20 years and absolutely loved it. Thanks to everyone in this school, the memory of today will last forever!

Terrific family owned business. I booked a private session with Axe (see photo) who is a local surfing legend in his own right. He made the whole experience such fun with his infectious energy and charm. All of us caught countless waves thanks to his excellent coaching. Definitely returning for more fun in the future.

Blown away by my surf lesson experience with Dread or Dead. I had zero surfing experience and was able to catch several waves! The instructor’s super positive energy made me feel comfortable, and he gave me the encouragement I needed. With each wave, he offered practical advice to make the next wave even better. Highly recommend. An absolute blast!
