Worried That Your Teen Is Depressed?
Occasional feelings of sadness, doubt, dissatisfaction, worry, anger, and listlessness are part of every teen’s life. But when a young person feels low, irritable, or detached most of the time, or when they’re no longer interested in things they used to enjoy, they may be experiencing the effects of depression.
1. Withdrawing from family and friends.
2. Avoiding activities and social situations.
3. Poor concentration and slowed thinking.
4. Frequent school absences and declining grades.
5. Changes in sleeping and/or eating pattern.
6. Overwhelming fatigue or lack of energy.
7. Angry outbursts, agitation, or restlessness.
8. Disinterest in activities they once enjoyed.
9. Little or no attention to personal hygiene.
