Delayed Eruption of the anterior teeth can be due to many reasons. The most important reason is the lack of space for the 4 anterior teeth that can be due to Narrow arch or small jaw and relatively bigger teeth size. Another reason can be hard gingiva at the area where these 4 anterior teeth are supposed to erupt which is usually caused by early loss of the upper anterior primary teeth. The axis and direction of the eruption of the permanent teeth can also be a serious cause. Habits as tongue thrust and thumb sucking can cause an force opposite to the direction of the normal eurption and will lead to delay in the eruption of the upper and lower anterior permanent teeth.
