@doctortayara & @healthy.mom.healthy.kids joining forces here to celebrate #nationalchildrensdentalhealthmonth & chat about some essential cleaning tips for your baby's first 🦷 teeth!
Lots of questions from you all about WHY the first dental 🪥visit is recommended either when the 1st 🦷 comes in or around the 1st birthday 🎂 whichever comes first...
@doctortayara says: "The first dental visit is not necessarily about « treating teeth, etc. » but more to create a ‘Dental Home.’ 🏠
We talk about pacifiers, breastfeeding, bottle 🍼feeding, the relationship 👅between the mouth, tongue and teeth 🦷 and breathing.
It's also meant to help instill good oral hygiene early on in life...caregivers are taught how to brush 🪥the little teeth & the tongue 👅 and given oral health-related tips on sleeping, nutrition...
Many oral diseases are preventable and the best way to head them off is to catch them early! 🙌
Also scheduling the first dental visit early helps the baby or toddler get familiar with the dental environment and clinic, which helps build a 👌 positive, long-lasting relationship with the pediatric dentist…this is very important, given how many adults have dental phobias! We wanna avoid that…healthy kids are happy positive confident kids."
