What is the difference between and orthopedician and a Rheumatologist?
An Orthopedic surgeon is a doctor who after completing his MBBS specialises in surgeries related to bone like fracture repair, joint replacement like knee and hip replcament, while a Rheumatologist is a superspecialist doctor who after completing his MBBS first get MD Medicine degree and then further specialises in Arthritis and autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis(HLA B 27 disease, back pain and stiff in young boys), sjogrens syndrome(dry eyes and mouth dz), Systemic lupus erythematosus, Psoriatic arthritis, Gout and vasculitis.
In simple words the medical part of joints and related disorder is seen by Rheumatologist while the surgical part is my orthopedicians.
