Here’s the story of our pizza cutter. In April I was talking to the members of my book club about an idea I had for a sculpture. They convinced me I should pursue it. So I did.
The Harborcreek location has different equipment from the other two stores because when we were planing to open, during the pandemic, our regular pieces were months behind in production. So we bought similar pieces and Gene Davis Sales and Service modified them to create what we needed. Schutte Woodworking smooths our cutting boards and has the entire time we’ve been open. I took an idea to Ben and Steve and they turned it into reality.
This is what I love about Erie. Even though there are a few naysayers there are mostly hardworking, salt of the earth people who believe in trying to make our shared community better. Ben and Steve could have said no. Mollie could have said no. But instead, I now have the largest pizza cutter IN THE WORLD sitting in Harborcreek. It is expertly crafted and sits on a beautiful pizza mural.
Was it necessary? No. Are there better things everyone could have spent their time on? Probably. Did I enjoy getting to know Ben and Steve better and spending time with Mollie? Absolutely.
The stainless steel wheel is 5 ft in diameter and the handle is 8ft in length. It is really big. Anyone is welcome to go look at it. The stainless steel wheel is not sharp but I still ask that you do not touch it.
