In the summer of 2013 my husband accepted a position at Erie Insurance and we moved from central Illinois to Erie with our three children. I didn’t want to move. I left behind a job at a company I loved where I had worked for nine years, all of my friends and family and everything familiar to me. Five years ago today I opened the Greengarden Donatos. We were the first business in this new plaza and have loved watching it evolve every step of the way. I’m so grateful for all of the customers who have supported us over the past five years especially in the first couple of years as we were figuring everything out. Often the restaurant industry is seen as a profession that is unskileld but that is not my experience. Typically a restaurant is a fast paced and stressful environment that requires speed, composure, and finesse. Like any industry, those employees with more experience are more efficient and reliable. And I have some of the most efficient and reliable employees out there. Many of them have been with me for many years, some the entire five years. It is humbling that so many of them took a leap of faith with me that Donatos would work out. The truth is it absolutely wouldn’t have without them. Words cannot express my never ending gratitude and appreciation for all that they have done and continue to do. Thank you. And for the entire community at large thank you for allowing my family to become a part of your family and making Erie our home. Christina
