We did a sea lion diving trip with guide Ian, and it was a great experience. Ian gave very detailed briefings and guided us through excellent routes underwater, which made the dives feel safe and enjoyable. The office staff were also very kind and welcoming throughout the trip. One of our team members accidentally broke a toilet in the restroom, but they handled the situation very generously and didn’t charge us for it. We really appreciated their understanding and kindness. Thank you to the amazing team at Dive in La Paz for such a memorable experience!

We had an amazing experience diving with Dive in La Paz! Everything was extremely well organized from start to finish, and the team was super friendly and professional. We were a group of eight divers, split into two smaller groups with two guides (Luis and Chris), which made the experience feel safe, relaxed, and very personalized. Both guides did a fantastic job. What really stood out was their flexibility in choosing the dive sites based on conditions – you can tell they genuinely care about giving you the best possible experience. The briefings were clear and thorough, and the whole operation felt very smooth. On top of that, the little details make a difference: free coffee in the morning, a comfortable office with great Wi-Fi, and an absolutely fantastic lunch right on the beach. Overall, we had a great day and enjoyed every minute. Highly recommended – you really can’t go wrong diving with them!

Had an incredible experience with Dive in La Paz. I spent 5 days diving and doing ocean safaris with them, and Roberto and Michelle were extremely accommodating and made getting everything set up effortless from the start. The operation itself is world class — incredibly well run, clean, organized, and very safety-focused while still being relaxed and fun. Over the 5 days, they kept the activities varied and exciting, which made the whole trip feel like an adventure instead of repeating the same thing every day. Huge thanks to my dive guides Sandra, Ivan, and Luis. They were absolutely outstanding in the water and incredibly knowledgeable about the local marine life. You could tell they genuinely love what they do, and they added so much to the experience by explaining animal behavior and helping spot wildlife that I would have completely missed on my own. We did scuba diving with sea lions, offshore safaris to see the mobulas, and saw countless dolphins from the boat. On our last day, we even spotted a whale shark, which was an amazing way to end the trip. If you’re diving in La Paz, I highly recommend Dive in La Paz.

Had two great dives with this team. Everyone at the shop was very helpful getting set up. During the dive trip we were in a group of four, including the instructor. The instructor worked with us to customize the dives at a depth and swim speed that we asked for to make it enjoyable. Dive one allowed is to see the seal lions in their natural habitat allow with one free swimming eel. The second dive was amazing with schools of fish surrounding me to the point it was almost disorienting. During the s ind dive we interacted with playful small sea lions as they nibbled on my arm, raced around me, and played with my yank hoses. Both dives were 45 minutes each. Even though had my gear serviced prior to the trip I found a high pressure hose leak. We were able to finish the dives. The shop tried to fix my hose but did not have the part so after taking it apart and re-assembly he said no charge. All and all a great experience. I will be coming back on my next trip to La Paz. Highly recommend!

I rode my motorcycle down from Canada to La Paz to do my open water course, I stopped in last minute and Robert at the front desk was able to answer all my questions accommodate my last minute booking. The course was instructing by Ivan and he was fantastic, super knowledgeable and experienced diver! Also captain Carlos was great! Lunch was provided and it was super nice to spend sometime on the beach after the dive

I spent one day diving with Dive In La Paz. We did two dives. Los Islotes and the Fang Ming Wreck. It was amazing. The dive guide and captain were experienced and professional. They provided ceviche for lunch, which was delicious. I can't wait to come back!

We had the best diving experience. Our instructor, Daniel, was kind, highly competent, patient, and taught us everything we needed to feel comfortable and safe diving. He was also very funny and made the experience super enjoyable! We saw every animal we wanted to, and more! Mobula migration, humpback whales, sea lions, dolphins, everything. The diving trips were aboard clean, well run boats that were easy to dive from. The captains (Dorian, Carlos, and Rene) were kind and helped us with our gear and getting on and off the boat from the water. They also had a keen eye for wildlife and would slow down so we could see dolphins or whales. We did open water and advanced certifications with Daniel and loved the experience. Each trip to espíritu santo involved a dive, a fruit and cookie snack break, then another dive, then lunch of ceviche on the beach. The food was delicious and well prepared. Everyone at the dive shop was kind and friendly. This felt like a well run, highly professional dive shop. I would 10/10 recommend to anyone interested in diving, whether learning to dive or just looking for a guide or tour. Same applies for anyone looking to snorkel and see the animals.

We spent a fantastic 2 days out diving with this outfit. They are excellent! I dive a lot and I appreciate a great team! Good energy, good people, very well organized and hard working. Jesus was a delight, and adjusted the day’s plan to our preferences. Sandy was so positive and knowledge, patient and fun. The lunch on the beach after the second dive was fresh and filling and so unique. And the sea lions!!!!! Amazing days.

I spent a week in La Paz for the Thanksgiving holiday and diving with Dive in La Paz for five days was the highlight of the trip. The service was excellent from the very start. The booking was seamless, and the communication was great all the way through. They did a fantastic job organizing the dive trips so we could see a huge variety of sites around the Isla Espiritu Santo Archipelago (a UNESCO World Heritage biodiversity hotspot). We visited the Fan Ming wreck (total fish soup!), the Salvatierra wreck, the beautiful Swanee reef, Rocas Tintoreras, and San Rafaelito. The highlight was definitely Los Islotes - the sea lion colony is massive, and the juveniles were so active they came right up to interact with us. We even had one hop onto the back of our boat! The days were planned perfectly: two morning dives followed by a delicious home-cooked lunch on a secluded beach before heading back in the early afternoon. We even got to snorkel with Whale Sharks on one of the days. The guides and crew were high-energy, knowledgeable, and tons of fun. If you are looking for a top-notch experience in La Paz, this is it.

@Kristin and Leah: We were part of the same group and would like to share our perspective to give a more balanced view of what actually happened. We understand that everyone can perceive situations differently, but we feel it’s important to point out a few key aspects that affected the entire group. Delay and time pressure We had to wait for your group, even though there is a strictly regulated time window for visiting the whale sharks. These rules exist to protect the animals and limit stress caused by too many visitors. Due to the late arrival, the entire group was at real risk of being denied access by the authorities, which created unnecessary pressure for everyone. Equipment and preparation There was more than enough time on the boat to properly check equipment. The situation appeared quite dominated by internal decision-making within your group, but in our opinion a key factor was overlooked: the daughter’s limited experience regarding the upcoming dive. In diving, especially with less experienced participants, personal preparation and responsibility are essential. Weighting and behavior underwater When asked about the required weight, the daughter understandably underestimated it. Both the crew and several divers explained that due to the high salinity, more weight is needed. Even after adjusting, it was still clearly insufficient. As a result, she repeatedly surfaced uncontrollably during the dive. Several participants had to wait underwater, and the overall experience was negatively affected. In the end, she was effectively being pulled through the dive instead of resolving the weighting issue properly. Conclusion From our perspective, this was not a failure of the dive center, but rather a matter of personal responsibility and preparation. It’s unfortunate when situations like this are later presented in a one-sided way and blame is shifted onto others. Rating We experienced Dive in La Paz as professional, well-organized, and safety-focused—even under time pressure. The crew handled the situation calmly and did their best to ensure everyone still had a safe and enjoyable experience. We would definitely dive with them again and can highly recommend them.
