My dogs' experience with Nick was unbelievable—and I don’t say that lightly. My dogs rarely warm up to people, so I wasn’t expecting much.
Take my little 14-year-old, small, bitey terrier. Rarely has anyone ever done his nails except me, and even then, it’s an ordeal. (Bless his heart 😉). He tries to bite me the whole time. My husband has to wrap him in a blanket just to calm him down enough for me to trim them. We have brought him to vets to have him trimmed, but he gets too traumatized!
Today I hired Nick to groom my other dog, a small, neurotic, white, fluffy, rescue, and I asked him if he was feeling brave so maybe— we could attempt a nail trim on my old terrier (with me holding him, of course).
Then Nick did the unthinkable. He asked if he could pick up my old brown dog. The dog who has NEVER let anyone pick him up. He doesn’t even like it when we do. And yet, somehow, Nick scooped him up and walked him over to his van like they were old friends. I was already stunned.
A little while later, I walked over to check on them, expecting to find some kind of struggle. But what do I see? My grumpy little 14-year-old terrier, standing without a collar or any restraint, calmly holding out his paw while Nick FILED HIS NAILS WITH AN ELECTRIC FILE. The same dog that would have taken my arm off if I had tried that!
And my white fluffy? Best haircut he’s ever had. Both dogs walked out of that van wagging their tails like they just had a spa day.
This man has a gift.
