A customer was driving his 2015 Mercedes Benz C-300 when a USAA driver backed in to him causing minor damage to the front end. The repair cost was $7521.82 and USAA paid for the repairs. When he asked to be compensated for his Diminishment of Value, (DOV), they only offered him $800.00. He knew this was a weak offer so he hired DVAC. We determined the correct DOV was $6450.00. USAA had to hire an independent appraiser under the Appraisal Clause. We agreed that $6450 was correct. In this instance the correct DOV was over eight times USAA’s offer. It pays to hire a licensed/Professional Diminished Value Appraiser!
