Types of Asphalt Sealers
The most common types of asphalt sealers are coal tar, acrylic, and asphalt emulsion:
Coal tar is the most durable and longest-lasting of the three, but it is also the most toxic and harmful to the environment. It is a petroleum-based product that has been used for decades. It is dark in color and provides a long-lasting, durable finish. However, coal tar can be challenging to apply and has a strong odor.
Acrylic is less durable than coal tar but is also much less toxic. Acrylic sealers are water-based and have become increasingly popular in recent years. They are easy to apply, have a slight odor, and come in various colors.
