Designer Pools By Ace

⚠️I wish I could give zero stars for our experience with Designer Pools by Ace in Denver, NC. If you’re thinking about hiring them for a pool installation around Charlotte or Lake Norman — please read this first. My husband and I signed a contract in January to build a lakefront pool, expecting to have it ready by summer for our rental property. It’s now October, and the project is still unfinished. What should have been an exciting experience turned into a complete nightmare. Here’s what we’ve been dealing with: -Communication fell apart almost immediately after our sales rep left the company. -Deadlines came and went with no updates or accountability. -We had a massive pile of debris sitting in our driveway for months, damaging our property. We eventually had to secure a dumpster ourselves to remove debris. -The unfinished pool shell is full of standing water, trash, and leftover materials. -Our backyard became a construction zone — littered with soda cans, cigarette butts, and debris. -Electrical lines to our dock were damaged during the project, leaving our boat lift unusable for months. -They failed the electrical inspection because the electrician didn’t know code. -Key work like the concrete, tile, fencing, and hardscaping is still not done. -Their crew was drinking alcohol on the job (see photo). -We’ve already paid nearly the full balance, and yet our backyard still looks like a job site. -We’ve had to educate ourselves about pool construction, get outside advice, and as a result, decided to seek legal counsel. This experience has been incredibly stressful, expensive, and disappointing. We’ve lost an entire rental season and countless hours trying to get updates or action. If you’re considering Designer Pools by Ace, please do your homework and look at other pool builders first. There are plenty of professional, reliable pool companies in the Charlotte and Lake Norman area — unfortunately, this wasn’t one of them for us. I’m sharing this to save someone else from going through what we did. Check the photos attached — this is not how a pool project should look after so many months.

Very happy with our experience. Matt was extremely communicative from start to finish and always quick to respond if we had questions or concerns. The process was quick and all the teams showed up on time. Concerns were addressed promptly. Our pool is beautiful!

Matt and his team were great to work with! From the outset of our initial meeting, Matt made us very comfortable with our custom Gunite pool project, and we felt reassured at each step of the process knowing that we had partnered with a competent and experienced team who knows what they are doing when it comes to building new pools. Our project was in Davidson County (about an hour North of Charlotte). Any concerns that I had with potential delays due to crews traveling to my location, was eliminated because the crews all worked in cadence with one another. From excavation, to rebar, shotcrete, coping, finish grading, pool deck, plaster and trims, each crew was experienced and showed up in force. Our project took 4 months to complete, which was to be expected, and we were impressed at the time that was made up due to the rainy weather we experienced this spring and summer. Any questions I had were promptly answered in a professional and educational manner. Inspections were seamless, and Matt has another satisfied customer who would happily recommend his company to anyone interested in embarking on a new custom pool project.

The entire process was impressively efficient, with the work completed in just one week. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs. Great pool company! Easy to deal with, always got back to us quickly with answers. Pool looks great! We had a little issue where the liner came off in the corner but they came out almost immediately and fixed it which is almost unheard of with other companies. Highly recommend them!

Highly recommend this company for any of your custom outdoor/patio needs. Very timely to get things done and always kept good communication with me during install of our pool and outdoor kitchen. Also very friendly and easy to work with even if changing your mind after design was already made like we did. Priced very reasonably for the quality of work these guys do. I would recommend anyone to give this company a shot you definitely will not regret it.

I had a fantastic experience working with Designer Pools. I was worried about staying within my budget, but they helped me choose options that looked stunning without overspending. Their team was so responsive throughout the entire process, answering all my questions and making sure I was happy with every step. My backyard now feels like a private oasis, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with their work.

I am very thankful for the help and the great job these guys did finishing the nightmare that was left to me by another pool company. Howard and his crew recognized and repaired the issues that my pool project had. They got me up and running, and a job very well done. I would hands down recommend ace pools! We all love it!!!

Our pool is gorgeous. And working with Designer Pools by Ace's team was easy and enjoyable until the end. We had and still have a low voltage electric shock in the pool. The inspector said he would go ahead and pass everything since he felt sure our pool builder would correct it. We should said thanks but, no thanks to him as here we are 9 months later having to hire someone to take up our concrete, re-bond everything and pour new. The Designer team or their election couldn't figure out what was wrong and turned in to not their problem since, "well, it passed inspection". Don't let the inspector do you any favors and don't make that final payment until everything is perfect.

When I decided to build a pool, I was nervous about finding a reliable contractor near me. Designer Pools came highly recommended, and they didn’t disappoint. From day one, they were incredibly professional and listened to what I wanted. I appreciated how they worked with my budget, giving me options without pressuring me into upgrades I didn’t need. They communicated regularly, which made the whole process stress-free. The end result is stunning—I can’t believe how much it’s transformed my backyard. If you’re looking for a pool company that truly cares about their work, I’d highly recommend them.
