Day 6 (Nov 30): Addressing Domestic Violence
Did you know that domestic violence doesn’t just stay at home—it often impacts the workplace, affecting performance, safety, and mental health? Survivors may face challenges such as absenteeism, decreased productivity, and even threats from abusers that follow them to their jobs.
Employers play a vital role in supporting survivors. Providing accommodations like flexible schedules, leave policies, or enhanced workplace security can make a difference in a survivor’s ability to rebuild their life while maintaining employment. A supportive workplace culture fosters trust, safety, and dignity for all employees.
However, not all employers rise to this responsibility. Some survivors experience retaliation or discrimination when they request help or accommodations. This is not only unjust—it is against the law.
At Derek Smith Law Group, we believe no one should suffer in silence. If you’ve faced discrimination, retaliation, or an unsafe work environment due to domestic violence, we are here to protect your rights and advocate for your safety.
Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and create workplaces that prioritize compassion and equality.
