Although there are dozens of procedures that fit into the category of restorative dentistry, it is quite a simple concept when you look at it the right way. Restorative dentistry is anything that takes your mouth from its current situation that is not ideal, and restores it to a situation that is as close to ideal as possible.
Restorative procedures can range from simple to complex. For example, a routine filling is considered to be a restorative procedure, because it takes your tooth from a less than desirable state (one where the tooth has decay), to a more desirable state (one where the tooth is decay free).
