Even though I initially had a problem getting in, I absolutely loved staying at Deighton Lodge! It's clean, comfy, and wonderfully quiet. There are lovely fields behind the property for walking the dog(if you have one), My room was spacious and included a private bathroom, a small fridge, and a kettle with coffee, sugar, and tea bags. The bedding and towels were provided, and the bed was already made upon arrival, which was a nice touch. This is a self catering property so dont expect butler service. The lodge also features a shared kitchen and lounge area, both of which are spotlessly clean, and there’s a lovely garden area to relax in. It truly makes for a perfect family getaway or even if your alone! Had a good chat with the girls in the morning who were very helpful and friendly, Can't wait to come back!

Stayed here with family and was not impressed at all: - rooms were quite tired and in need of a revamp. Mattress was very flimsy. - bizarre long list of demands from the hosts for checkout (see attached photo) - no soap or cleaning products of any sort in showers - no breakfast of any kind provided, just a communal kitchen - original check in instructions sent were incorrect and there’s no one on site to help (although host did answer the phone) - no WiFi I don’t understand what you’re paying for here - it’s definitely not nice rooms, food or service. It’s like an expensive Airbnb, but where you also have to share the communal areas with people you don’t know and then also tidy and clean before you leave. Maybe if you’re staying here after a wedding and planning on bringing in loads of food and equipment this is a good setup - for everyone else, I’d avoid.

Had the most wonderful stay at Deighton lodge for my hen do weekend - the facilities and space were incredible for a large group of over 20 of us. The owners were super communicative and have really thought of everything that we could’ve needed - the built in kitchen speakers were a real plus! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to hold my hen and I would recommend this to anyone planning theirs!

Recently had our wedding at Deighton Lodge and it was the best day ever! The venue itself, the barn, the accommodation, the outside space were just excellent. From the day we had a viewing with Sally we booked there and then as we just knew we had to get married here. Sally has been excellent from day one and made us feel like family. Nothing was to much trouble at all and sally was always at hand to answer any questions we had. Having a blank canvas meant we could plan our festival themed wedding exactly how we wanted. All of our guests commented on what an amazing venue it was and couldn't believe how close to York centre it was. We had 22 friends stay with us in the accommodation who again thought the accommodation and social aspect of it was amazing. Our suppliers also commented on the amazing venue choice. Towards the wedding we had angie to support with coordinating the day and contacting all our suppliers which took the pressure off us. On the day Sally and angie were on hand to ensure the day ran smoothly from start to finish without making it feel like they were staff and blending in with our guests. Highly recommend Deighton lodge as a wedding venue, you will not be disappointed. Mr and Mrs Ireland 25/5/25 💖 (Professional photos fabiophotography)

No shower gel in an Airbnb or hotel should be illegal. Also a lot of bizarrely flashing lights on appliances in the room (TV and thermostat) which had to be covered so we could sleep.

Very, very clean!! The house itself was great just disappointed in the amenities. The hot tub was not up and running, the outdoor patio is not covered like the photos make it seem, the bathroom window latch was broken off so you’re not able to close the window so it’s absolutely freezing in there at night, the claw foot tub only has an option for the shower head to be on so it’s not an actual soaking tub. Overall a nice stay and would return, just feel a bit mislead from the photos and amenities listed on the site.

Amazing find, we’ll definitely be back. You’ll need a car, but there are some great walks nearby and access to York centre/university is a doddle (except at rush hour). Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the communal areas, which are cosy and have everything you need- from slow cookers to cocktail shakers!

(I did not rate the rooms because I didn't go there for a hotel stay) I attended the place yesterday for a wedding that was being held there, I really enjoyed the scenery and the place in general. There are a lot of things to do here if you are thinking of using the place for a certain event or party. For anyone else who is thinking of going here I recommend leaving a message on the guestbook telephone on your stay.

We just wanted to say an incredibly huge thank you for an incredible time at the weekend! It was amazing to have all our near and dear over for a long weekend to celebrate our joint stag and hen do. The venue was brilliant and the option to hire hot tubs was an absolute winner!

We felt deeply sorry for the bride and groom on what should have been their special day. While the ceremony itself was excellent and the venue undeniably beautiful, there were significant issues with the electrics that marred the evening. Throughout the event, the lights in the venue flickered constantly, with some remaining completely off. Although the first dance was thankfully unaffected, the music cut out entirely after that song and was not restored for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, the staff were unhelpful and showed little urgency to address the situation. Instead of stepping in to resolve the problem, they appeared disengaged, spending most of their time seated by the bar on their phones. This left the wedding guests scrambling to find solutions, such as using a portable speaker, fetching cables from home, or even setting up a TV to log into Spotify. It wasn’t just the music and lighting affected; the hand dryers also worked sporadically, cutting out entirely later in the evening. It seemed like a venue-wide electrical fault, which significantly detracted from the experience. For a wedding venue, where couples invest significant time and money to create lasting memories, this was a major letdown. These issues likely spoiled what should have been a joyous and seamless celebration for the couple and their guests.
