PEST CONTROL FOR ANTS
Consistent warm temperatures and wet weather has given rise to ants moving into our homes.
You’re not alone if you find your home is being invaded by these little critters. It’s happening everywhere across the South-east.
Why so? Summer is the active breeding season for ants and they’re on the move looking for food for their young. Also, with the wet weather and in some cases flooding, they’re looking for shelter.
Foods that ants love are sugary and fatty foods - dare I say, all the foods we love. Yes, ants love a sugar fix too!
Any crumbs or opened packets are an invitation to come dine. That’s all it takes - just a few crumbs and there’s a trail of ants in your kitchen or family room.
The plan of attack is to firstly find where are they coming from and block that entrance point. Secondly, spray the ants with a surface spray.
Thirdly, remove all crumbs, seal open packets and then wipe down benches with vinegar or bleach.
If ants continue to be a problem and you can’t find their access point, it’s best to have a professional pest technician deal with the issue.
Not only will he treat for ants, but cockroaches and spiders too. If you’re aware you have rodents around your property, the pest technician can set bait stations to rid that pest too.
