We’re in the middle of building a brand-new two-level composite deck in Kirkland, WA, and it’s already transforming this backyard into something special. The design connects two platforms: the lower section is perfect for the hot tub and greenery, while the upper level creates an open space for gatherings, grilling, or just enjoying a quiet evening outside.
For this project we’re using TimberTech Coconut Husk composite decking — a rich, modern color that looks like real wood but doesn’t come with the headaches. No sanding, staining, or sealing. Just a low-maintenance deck that can handle Pacific Northwest rain, sun, and everything in between. With hidden fasteners and clean picture-frame borders, every detail feels polished.
We’ve reinforced the structure with pressure-treated framing, joist tape for protection, and solid blocking for future railing installation. Even though it’s still in progress, you can already see the transformation from an old, tired space into a backyard built for relaxation and fun.
