Sealing or Restricting a Criminal Record in Georgia
Georgia law allows eligible individuals to restrict, or seal, certain criminal records from public view. While law enforcement still has access, background checks for jobs, housing, and schools will not show restricted charges.
You may qualify if:
Your charges were dismissed or resulted in a not guilty verdict
You have a first-time misdemeanor (not including serious crimes)
You were under 21 when the offense occurred
You received a pardon in limited cases
The process involves filing a request with the proper agency or court and, in some situations, getting a judge’s approval. Because the rules are complex, working with an attorney can make a difference.
At Darden & Musson Law, we help Savannah residents pursue record restriction so they can move forward with confidence.
