The client is an exceptionally talented pianist who specializes in Romantic-period music and requested a tuning style that would better complement the character of the repertoire.
Drawing on my formal music education and experience with alternate tuning systems, I researched and applied Vallotti temperament. Unlike modern equal temperament, which divides the octave evenly so every key has a similar harmonic character, Vallotti temperament uses a combination of pure and tempered fifths. This gives different keys their own tonal color, tension, and character.
