Site Maintenance Update – HIPAF System
We’ve recently completed routine maintenance on a site that has presented ongoing issues over the years. Approximately a year ago, we took over the maintenance of a failing HIPAF system after several unsuccessful attempts by various companies to resolve its long-standing problems.
Our first step was to closely monitor the system to identify the root causes of its failures. The primary issue we discovered was an uncontrolled inflow. Previously, the flow control chamber had been removed, which was a major contributing factor. We reinstated this chamber as a priority.
Following that, we made minor but important adjustments to the forward feed and sludge return lines. We also carried out a full emptying and thorough clean of the entire system.
Looking ahead, we have implemented a stringent maintenance and desludging program. Thanks to these interventions, the system is now
performing well, and the Environment Agency is no longer pressuring the business.
