When did you last test your RCD?
RCDs are potentially life saving devices, they offer protection against electrocution and can prevent electrical fires - but only when they are working! On every RCD there will be a "test" button, sometimes marked with a T, an RCD should be tested at least every 6 months by depressing the test button, this will cause the RCD to cut off the power. You can then reset the RCD and have peace of mind that it's working.
