The sale of Fluorescent and Halogen light bulbs has now been banned as of September this year.
This is in an effort to collectively reduce our carbon emmisions. The carbon emmission reduction of phasing out these bulbs could be 1.26 million tonnes per year, that's the equivalent of taking 500,000 cars of the road.
Not only does it mean a reduction in emmisions but reduced energy usage too, the average household using halogen bulbs spends approximately £378 per year on lighting electricity whereas an equivalent household with LEF bulbs spends just £146 per year.
