Halogen lights waste a lot of energy supplied to them as heat - around 90% in fact. Compared to an LED bulb where this figure drops to just 10%, it's no wonder LED lights us approximately 85% less energy than halogen! Not only do the cooler running temperatures save you money on your electricity bill; they are far safer too.
Life Span
Whilst you can expect a typical Halogen bulb to last 1000-2000 hours, LED models can last up to 50,000 hours and typically come with lengthy warranties. This is due to the cooler running temperatures and the fact that LEDs to not have filament that can burn out.
Running Costs
Although the upfront cost of LEDs is slightly higher, the lower energy usage and longer life span will save you money in the long term.
