Just finished a week’s stay at Coombe Meadow (formerly Coombe Mill to us).
After 15 years of visiting our happy place, watching our kids grow and flourish among the animals and beautiful surroundings, we arrived with a little trepidation, wondering if things might feel different.
Thankfully, they really didn’t.
Steve and Melissa were very open when they took over Coombe and spoke about the changes they hoped to make. It’s clear they’ve both fallen in love with the place, the animals and the setting and that care really shows.
The feed run was still a highlight: calm, enjoyable, and the chickens were as friendly and easy to handle as ever. GIsmo and the guinea pigs are still a firm favourite with our kids.
While there’s no tractor ride at the moment, it didn’t take away from the experience.
The lodges are still homely and spotlessly clean with toys and games provided and extras can be found in the games room and soft play if needed.
Steve truly went above and beyond during our stay bringing extra towels during the wet weather, providing extra eggs, and even adjusting the feed run time to suit the lazier teenagers in our group!
It was also lovely to hear Steve share his vision for Coombe. We left feeling reassured that it’s in safe hands, and we’re already looking forward to returning in the summer to see what new touches Steve and Melissa bring to this beautiful place.
