Spring and summer mean more turtles on the move — often crossing roads to find food, mates, or nesting spots. If you spot a turtle crossing the road, here’s how you can safely lend a hand:
👋 Only help if it’s safe for YOU to do so. Your safety comes first.
🐢 Move the turtle in the direction it’s headed. Don’t turn it around — it’ll just try again!
🚫 Never relocate turtles far from where you found them. They have strong homing instincts and may not survive in unfamiliar areas.
🛑 Don’t pick them up by the tail. Gently grasp the shell near the back legs for a secure hold.
