What does a Licensed Veterinary Technician do? š¾
LVTs are highly skilled veterinary professionals who play a central role in patient care, client communication, and hospital workflow. At CARE, our LVTs are leaders on the floorāsupporting doctors, mentoring assistants, and making sure every patient receives safe, compassionate, and timely care.
Hereās what they do:
ā
Triage & Communication
LVTs assess the urgency of cases, take detailed patient histories, and communicate clearly with both doctors and clients. They help review estimates and explain treatment plans with empathy and confidence.
ā
Advanced Patient Care
From placing IV catheters and drawing blood, to performing cystotomies, placing NG tubes, and calculating drug doses (including CRIs) LVTs are hands-on in every area of critical care. Theyāre trained in anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging (including CT), and ICU patient management.
ā
Lab & Diagnostics
LVTs run in-house labs, take diagnostic radiographs, monitor blood pressure, and manage complex equipment like our Hemoperfusion Machine.Ā
ā
Mentorship & Leadership
They guide veterinary assistants, uphold hospital standards, and help shape a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
