This very imposing clock was made around 1810 by a clock maker Edward Mathews from Welshpool, the clock was named an act of parliament clock or tavern clock, they where very common in public places or inns hence the name tavern clock, they always had large plain dials & plain painted cases some like this one where a little more ornate with some inlay & brass ware, the clock has a 6 day weight driven & pendulum regulated movement, this is just one of the many fine Antique Clocks we have for sale.
