This is a 19th century Time Only Skeleton Clock its Come to Us for Complete Restoration, its in very Poor Condition & The Work Is Exstensive , apart from a complete Service ,there are a few man made problems the Dial has had the numbers glued on but as you can see we have removed them & a chapter ring will now be mounted to the plate, the base had been cobbled together with bits of wood ? it will be filled & Sanded to a very smooth Finish then high coat primer will be applied before about 4 coats of matt black, The movement has not escaped the hands of the Bodge it & Run Brigade, the pendulum is totally the wrong one its off a French Clock ? the main spring is the incorrect size, this would have had to be replaced anyway as its set, a main spring by rule of thumb should be about 3.5 times bigger than the spring barrel, The Fusee chain we think has long since been replaced by a piece of Mains Cable ? Sometimes Clocks come to us & Some of the work seems poor, but sometimes you have to give some thought about when the work may have been done such as during or just after war time when there were simply no way of getting any materials, But you can still tell the workmanship of the Clockmaker is apparent, with this Clock what is apparent is they did not know what they where doing, We Should Be able to bring it back somewhere neer its former Glory & Put a Big Smile on the Customers Face.
