A very Nice C1900 Drop Dial 8 Day Fusee
railway Clock, The Fault Reported was
Stopping so i stripped down the movement it
was pretty routine apart from the main spring
was packed with an Excesive amount of Grease ,
This started me thinking why so much Grease ? any way the rest of the movement was cleaned by hand To remove some of the Grime then run through an ultrasonic bath for a deep clean & as you can see from the pictures its now clean & ready to be put back together & lubricated correctly , now the mainspring situation ? after Removing it from ts barrel & cleaning it it appeared ok but there was
evidence of it being shortened & why would it
be packed with this much Grease? so a
decision was made to replace the main spring
just to be on the safe side, Im Also going to
reface The Escapment Pallets just for good
Measure. The Fusee Chain was also Checked for kinks , kinks can also stop the Clock, Glad to say all was Well.
