This heavy black marble mantel clock has come into us this week, the customer has asked us what we can do as it's missing it's pendulum & the movement is in an unrepairable state, we suggested fitting a quartze movement to the clock as the case is in good shape, there where thousands of these clocks made, they usually have French movements in them & the movements are very well made by the likes of japy freres , they date c1880 the story goes? they where made with the black marble case & the monumental looks as a sign of respect to the late Queen Victoria on the death of her husband Albert in March 1862,
