This Very Fine Grandfather Clock Movement Was Made Around 1750 by The Lassal Family in Toxteth Park Liverpool, They Were Considered One of The Best Clockmakers Along With John Wyke & Joeseph Finney From Liverpool, It Came To us with the complaint that it would not wind up ? on inspection we Found the winding Arbours completly twisted Looking like Barly Sugar Twist ? i had never seen this before on inpection the steel making up the arbours was in a very soft state bit of a mystery but my oppinion is it has had some previous work done in this area and they used heat and never rehardned the steel, in its time its probable been through many hands, anyway if you look at the pictures you will see how we repaired it using tool steel rod, 1st the old arbours wher cut off and holes drilled through the centre of the arour and steel rods inserted they wher brazed in and a pin put through each one, one has been shaped to match the key the other has not been finished yet. i am very happy with the results, because of this clocks rarety and age you only get one chance at getting the repair right so it always has to be thought through before any work is done, I enjoy this type of work as its a chalange and the thought that you have potentialy saved another Fine Clock makes it worth while, This Clock Is A Rocking Ship Clock i will put a Video Up of The Finished Movement
