A Very Nice Striking Carriage Clock Signed Brevette, All looks fine, at 1st it looks like a Service plus replacment of the main springs, but on separating the plates ready to clean the movement & replace the main springs its obvious all is not well, if you look at the separated front & Back Plate you will see scratches & punch marks, this was not visible at 1st as its on the inside of the plates, either side of the movement wheels, this is very bad practice worn pivot holes should be rebushed properly this ensures correct depthing, because punching pivot holes causes misshapen holes and a square edge this has worn the centre pinnion, (this is the part the hands are connected to) which has then snappeed resulting in the clock not working due now to the movement binding together due to a shift in the depthing, this practice plus the normal wear & Tear has resulted in the clock needing exstensive work, making it uneconomical, its fortunate for our customers we have a no fix no fee policy or the customer would be out of pocket, fortunatly for ourselves it does not happen often as a clock needs to be taken to pieces to do most repairs.
