This Clock Was Brought To Me From Worcestershire Uk Its a C1675 Lantern Clock, Well The Dial is From This Date & Made By Thomas Milles, The Movement is dated c1850 , its common for the movement to have been changed, the origonal Movement may have been Rope driven & 30 Hour, this Movement is 8 day Quarter Striking Ting Tang & Double Fusee Driven, if the Clock would have been in its Origonal Form untouched it would be a very Rare Clock indeed Maybe one of about half a dozen, The Fault reported strikes incorectly ie it could be 5 oclock but intermitantly strikes 7 or some other incorrect time, in simple terms somebody at some time has tryed to solder parts of the striking lever & The solder over time has deteriourated so now the lever does not rest on what is called the Snail Wheel as it Should, The Part im talking about is in the last Pictures, i will be making a new part, i wont resolder it as its got to be rigid but there is also a small lever thats mounted on a piece of spring brass as you can see its been soldered in So this needs sorting out this part needs to move but caint & caused the joint to fail at the mounting point of the lever now the clock Will not Strike Correctly, it will also be Fully Serviced & Maybe 2 new Main Springs. Its a bit more Complicated than this but i have tryed to keep it simple, it was not Easy.
