I’ve been going to Clinic M since they first opened, and I honestly couldn’t speak more highly of them. Every single member of staff is welcoming, professional, and genuinely lovely! Over the years I’ve had a range of treatments from Pauline, Fiona and Mr Grime and the care, attention, and results have always been amazing. The clinic has such a calm, reassuring atmosphere, and I always feel completely looked after from the moment I walk in.

15th February 2026 This is an update on the review I posted in November (below). Subsequently, and following the response to my review by ClinicM, I contacted Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), which is responsible for inspecting and regulating independent healthcare in Scotland. HIS investigated my complaints about ClinicM, which included carrying out a site visit, and upheld two of my complaints. These are in the public domain on the HIS website and are: A) The service did not follow its treatment protocol for the procedures carried out B)The patient did not consent to the registered service manager carrying out the procedure. A comprehensive report will be posted by HIS on its website after a follow-up inspection. Review in November 2025 Unfortunately, my experience of Clinic M has been very negative. My overarching concern relates to issues around consent and the management of the surgical procedure, and feeling the attitudes of Mr Grime and Ms Thomson were dismissive and unprofessional. I went to Clinic M to have minor surgery, privately, to remove two cysts on my back. I booked this procedure with Mr Grime, an experienced surgeon. After an initial diagnostic consultation with Ms Pauline Thomson, who has a background in Dental Therapy and a BSc in Dermatology, I contacted ClinicM reception to confirm that Mr Grime would be carrying out the procedure and was advised that he would. Appointment correspondence stated ‘Simple Cyst removal with Peter Grime’. However, I was lying on my stomach, having had local anaesthetic injected into my back by Mr Grime, when Ms Thomson came into the room and proceeded to carry out the procedure under the guidance of Mr Grime. I was not consulted beforehand and had not given consent for someone other than Mr Grime to operate on me. Apart from saying ‘Hi’, Ms Thomson’s only comment to me was that she liked my jeans. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the procedure and I had to return to ClinicM four hours later to have the wound opened, the source of ongoing bleeding identified and cauterised and the wound re-sutured. Mr Grime did this corrective surgery. I appreciate things can go wrong, so that whilst having to go back and have the wound opened and re-sutured was unpleasant and inconvenient, this was of less concern to me than the general attitudes of both Mr Grime and Ms Thomson, which I felt to be dismissive at the least. On a return check-up visit, Mr Grime volunteered that I had been given a ‘first rate service’, as he had prioritised me over another patient and that he could have left me to ‘wait for a couple of hours or even until the next day’ to deal with the problem of persistent bleeding into the wound. When I asked Mr Grime why he had not carried out the initial procedure, as I had expected, given that I was paying him privately for his skills and experience, he called Ms Thomson into the room. She was, I felt, quite combative, challenging me by saying ‘You’re not fifteen, you could have stopped the procedure at any point’. She asked me three times ‘Are you medical?’ In terms of the surgical procedure, my understanding is that for this type of invasive procedure, which would take more than 20 minutes, the use of aseptic technique is considered important. I had asked at the start of and during the procedure, if my bra should be undone so that the operation site could be cleaned properly and to give better access to the cysts to be removed. They did not feel this was necessary. There were no drapes on my back, isolating the area to be operated on, to provide an aseptic area and when I asked about this, Ms Thomson replied that they don’t use drapes as ‘they fall off’. I noted clean gloves were used, not sterile gloves. All in all, this has been an unpleasant experience and very disappointing in terms of what I would have expected of healthcare professionals. I cannot comment on the other services provided at ClinicM. However, I will not be returning to ClinicM, nor will I be recommending it.

My knee has been plaguing me for a few months. Mr. G. spent a full hour first doing a physical assessment of my walking and stretching ability. This was followed by an ultra sound session. Afterwards gave me an in-depth feedback and a path to follow and actions to take to alleviate my discomfort. I am more than happy with the session. Excellent professional medical advice for a very reasonable fee. Thank you. Linda.

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care, attention, and guidance Mr Grime has provided me. His thoroughness and comprehensive assessment, advice to consult a spinal surgeon, and his invaluable assistance in facilitating that process have made an extraordinary difference. His detailed letter to my GP proved to be the crucial first step in redirecting my treatment pathway—after a long and frustrating period of feeling unheard on the NHS. Unfortunately, despite my own handwritten plea, the NHS orthopaedic consultant has still failed to communicate the results of my shoulder and neck MRI from March 2025. There has also been no follow-up appointment arranged, which left me in a state of continued uncertainty, anxiety and concern. Thanks to your vigilance and support, I was able to see a private spinal surgeon in Aberdeen in September. He raised concerns that the bulging disc at C5/C6 has likely been impinging nerves for 17 months. He noted shoulder weakness with a score of 4/5 and advised that, due to the nature of the condition it was time sensitive and surgical decompression in my cervical neck is necessary to relieve pain and potentially prevent further loss of function. We are now moving forward with surgery in late October. I truly believe that without your empathy, patience, and clinical insight, I would still be waiting—untreated in great pain and without answers . The correct intervention has not only brought clarity but also real hope of some recovery. I would also like to add that Mr Grime provided me with a detailed ultrasound of my elbows when NHS Highland’s waiting time for such a scan was over 12 months! This led to me have successful shock wave treatment with Mr Grime which rectified very painful tennis and golfers elbow. I problem l have suffered for 19 years. Thank you once again for your outstanding care and advocacy.

Update: The clinic's public response and decision to publicly post a picture of our correspondence misrepresents my complaint and offers no real accountability. I did not tie a refund to removing my review. I simply offered a fair resolution after a poor experience, which is standard consumer practice. The tone of their response is defensive and dismissive, much like my original consultation. They have taken the time to respond publicly, but I have still not received a private resolution or access to my medical records. I am more than happy to leave this review public, as I believe it serves to demonstrate the clinic’s approach to handling complaints very clearly. Original Review: Extremely disappointing experience at M Clinic I attended a private consultation with Dr Peter Grimes regarding an ankle injury and left feeling unheard, uncomfortable and genuinely shocked by the lack of care I received. The consultation felt rushed and impersonal. The ultrasound machine appeared to malfunction, leading to visible frustration from Dr Grimes. I was left repeatedly covered in gel with no protective bedding, no assistance from staff, and no effort made to ensure I was comfortable. My ankle was manipulated to the point of severe pain, and when I reacted, Dr Grimes became visibly and verbally impatient. There was little to no explanation of what was being done, no clear consent, and no attempt to put me at ease. Instead of offering guidance or support, the focus quickly shifted to upselling further services, including a £375 MRI scan. The entire experience felt more like a sales process than a medical consultation. After raising a formal complaint, I received a written response that was both dismissive and defensive. My concerns were not acknowledged, and the focus was redirected toward internal staffing matters that had nothing to do with my experience. I was also told I would need to pay £30 to access my own medical records from the consultation. At no point was there any reflection, apology or indication that patient wellbeing is a priority at this clinic. This was not simply a poor consultation. It was an unprofessional, uncomfortable and upsetting experience from start to finish. I would strongly advise others to think carefully before attending this clinic, especially if you expect clear communication, basic care or compassion.

Can not reccomend Clinic M highly enough! I have been seeing Pauline and Sophie about problematic Rosacea/eczema on my face. Their professionalism and the lovely relaxed atmosphere they both create make appointments a pleasure. I am delighted with the progress my skin is making, Pauline is so extremely knowledgeable. Thank you all!

Had lesion on face removed with CO2 laser by Pauline with the lovely Sophie assisting. Wasn't painful at all and healed well over the next 14 days or so. Now 7 weeks on, you can't see any sign of where it was removed, no scarring, just slightly pink but this is fading and will clear up very soon. I just wish I'd had this done years ago!. Can't recommend Pauline highly enough. She really knows her stuff and is so friendly and professional. Sophie also doing a great job with the mapping and camera!!.

This was my first experience going private and my first experience getting stitches. Peter and Pauline were super duper friendly and most welcoming. I was made to feel very comfortable and well looked after. Thanks again for the fantastic and professional service.
