Cannot recommend this gym enough. 11/10 a hidden gem! I travel often and have visited over 35 climbing gyms in the past year, but this one has easily become one of my favorite. Really enjoyed the unique routes with the outdoor style features and especially loved the super cave. I came to Scottsdale for a bachelorette party and wanted to boulder outdoors but didn’t have time. I’m so glad I found this gym because it was the next best thing. Sean was super welcoming and truly felt like our home gym for the day. Wish we had a gym like this back home. Will definitely be returning every time I’m back in Arizona!

Came here on a Wednesday night for their women’s climb night, it was only $10, which is a great deal considering the normal day pass without a membership is around $20. Their membership pricing and gear rentals are also cheaper than Phoenix Rock Gym, making it more affordable overall. For example, some local gyms charge $55–$60+ per month for unlimited memberships, punch passes, or higher day rates, so the options here feel pretty accessible. Climbmax Rock Gym They offer both rope climbing and a full bouldering area, and the upstairs space is not restricted to members only like at some other gyms in the area. The layout feels open and accessible, with plenty of options to climb. I really enjoyed myself and got a solid workout in. I was sore for a few days after, but it was totally worth it. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, budget-friendly climbing gym.

My friend and I have been coming to this gym for several months now. I was really nervous when I first started climbing, but now I find it really fun. The locals from the gym set the different routes and they seem to rotate them frequently, which is a plus (and I won't get tired of doing the same V2s lol). Overall this is the place to get a good workout, learn how to climb, and have fun with friends :)

I checked out ClimbMax for the first time yesterday with a couple of people and we were beyond impressed with the atmosphere, hospitality from the owner Sean, route setting, pricing, and the community there. I learned to climb in a small town where there was only one climbing gym and since moving to Phoenix I’ve been searching for that friendly atmosphere where strangers chat with each other and become friends and people look out for each other. Sean is very friendly and knowledgeable. He conducted my friend’s top rope lesson. He’s a fantastic teacher and she was able to pick up the pbus method almost instantly. From what I’ve seen around the valley the majority of gyms have pretty expensive day passes and rentals, sometimes costing around $35. ClimbMax is priced significantly lower which is perfect for someone who’s just getting into climbing and doesn’t want to break the bank. This is the same for membership prices. At some other gyms you’ll easily spend close to $100 for a personal monthly membership while ClimbMax’s is a much more fair price at $55 which pays for its self in under 3 visits. WOW! When my partner and I have more time on our hands we’re planning on starting up a membership and making this our climbing spot! Thanks Sean, we had a blast! -Ginger Yotz

This gym is like a second home to me. I have been a member since January and I plan to continue my membership. It is a wonderful community and a safe place to learn and grow. The owner Sean is awesome and you can tell he truly cares about the gym and community. I tell everyone I know to come to climbmax!

This is a fantastic climbing gym. The routes are great and well-marked. The equipment is in great shape and well-maintained. Sean, the owner, is an awesome instructor and highly passionate individual. He makes an effort to know every member and will immediately make a new visitor feel at home. This gym has small-town community and big-city quality.

This place is enormous with plenty of space and room to do whatever you want to do. There are many climbing walls and routes that are very challenging. I was a newcomer here though I used to climb 30 years ago on real rocks. I can’t wait to go back.

Love this gym, the people are authentic and always ready to cheer you on. The climbs are hard but so satisfying when you get them, as a newer climber it took me a bit to get even the easiest climbs but the community really cheers you on. The vibe is really down to earth and easy to relax in. If you don't like people watching you climb you can almost always find a secluded little spot to hang out in.

This place is awesome. Been coming here for a few months & it blows other gyms out of the water. You have so many routes to choose from, from beginner to advanced, this place will have something for you to have fun on. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a lowkey vibe of a spot!
