Mario, Nathan & Mickey showed up exactly at the agreed time. Our job seemed huge & unwieldy to me: the basement in our old farmhouse, and the main barn on our property. We made decisions about what to keep and what should go, but as the crew worked, other things were unearthed & the crew made sure to ask me about those items. They worked faster than anyone could imagine, in great spirits & very professionally. They appreciated the history of the place, & they understood why, for example, mid-19th century hand-hewn beams in the barn should stay—peg construction & square nails! They let us know that they would be cleaning everything up that can go to ReUse & sustainably discarding things that were daunting to us. There was not one thing where a crew member had to ask “what’s this,” only “what do you want to do with this?” Finally, they also understood that my sense of the scope of this clean-out was not easy—even tho we’d not looked at the storage in the basement (& I’m too embarrassed to say how old some of those files & memorabilia were) for 23 years, we didn’t need it. I could have imagined myself saying, “oh, wait, this was my nana’s whatchamagigger,” or “hang on here, this was some important acknowledgment of blah blah blah,” but the unburdening was & is a gift, & we recommend Mario & his team for any project anyone might have. My advice to folks in our age group is this: don’t saddle your kids with stuff you know in your hearts they absolutely do not want to have to deal with! Coming home tonight, I swear coming down our rural road, the place seemed to lift a bit, treading lightly on the land. Call them.
