Proper placement of your rented roll off dumpster is important. Regardless of your project like spring cleaning or yard renovation, your dumpster should be placed where it is easily accessed and not have any legal concerns.
Avoid Placing on a slope or incline. Dumpsters that are empty may appear fine on a slope but as they are filled and become heavier, this can be a problem. Initially, when delivered, the dumpster may seem set in a solid position but as the weight increases with trash, clippings and debris, this can cause the dumpster to start rolling, and might occur when you are not there.
Make sure you are not blocking someone else from their property or driveway. Placing the dumpster in a common area can be an HOA issue, so call your management company and see if you need approval to do so. Or if you need to place the dumpster over a property line, talk to your neighbor first and get permission. And, if you need to place the dumpster in the street, call your city department and see if a permit is required.
Choose a solid spot to place the dumpster. Concrete or asphalt are best, but you may have to set the dumpster on dirt. If so, make sure the ground is compacted and not on sprinklers, a septic tank or the leech lines. Additionally, the truck delivering the dumpster weighs even more and needs solid ground to not get stuck, with room to maneuver.
