It might be a bit late for the usual winter preparedness, BUT there's some quick tips for you that you might not have thought of:
1. Double and triple check your carbon monoxide alarms! With snow covering vents, and extra heaters and fireplaces in use, it's just good safety.
2. Check your vents and make sure they're clear of snow - especially your dryer vents and gas fireplaces.
3. Don't be too quick (or violent) when you knock off snow from your plants. Many plants will be well insulated with the snow left on, and other branches are particularly brittle, so brush them off carefully.
4. This gets it's own point: your arborvitae needs to get brushed off! Those tall trees won't recover from too heavy of a snowfall. Just be sure you're not underneath those branches!
5. If you have ceiling fans, make sure you reverse the fan blades so you get the benefit of your heat!
And as always - drive carefully if you're going out and about!
