San Francisco Venue Spotlight: Battery Godfrey
Tucked away on the Marin Headlands just steps from the iconic Battery Spencer overlook, Battery Godfrey is one of my favorite locations for photography sessions in the San Francisco Bay Area. While many visitors stop for the famous Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint, Battery Godfrey offers something even more special—dramatic coastal cliffs, windswept cypress trees, historic military architecture, and sweeping bridge views that change with the light, weather, and fog.
It's an incredible setting for surprise proposals, engagements, couples, families, and anyone wanting photographs that capture the spirit of San Francisco. One of the things I love most is that within just a few minutes' walk, we can create an incredible variety of images without ever leaving the area. Every visit feels a little different, whether the bridge is glowing in the afternoon sun or disappearing into the coastal fog.
I've put together a complete venue guide that covers the best times to visit, parking, what to wear, what to expect during your session, and plenty of inspiration from real client galleries. If you're planning a visit to San Francisco and want a location that's both breathtaking and memorable, Battery Godfrey deserves a spot at the top of your list.
I hope it helps you discover one of my favorite places to photograph—and maybe inspires your next San Francisco adventure.
