Body Preparation for Cremation Explained

When someone passes away, there are different ways their body can be handled. One option is cremation, where the body is turned into ashes. This process involves several steps.
First, the body preparation for cremation begins. This includes removing any jewellery or medical devices. Then, the body is placed in a cremation container, which is usually a simple wooden box. Sometimes, families choose to have a viewing before the cremation, where loved ones can say goodbye.
Once the body is prepared, it's taken to the crematorium. Inside, it's placed into a chamber called a cremation furnace. This furnace reaches very high temperatures, up to 982°C, which helps break down the body into smaller fragments and eventually into ashes. The body cremation process typically takes a few hours.
After the cremation process is complete, the remaining fragments are cooled and then processed into fine particles, which we call the ashes of the body. These ashes are then placed into an urn or another container chosen by the family.
At Cherish Funerals, they understand that this process can be difficult for families. That's why they provide compassionate support and guidance every step of the way. They help families make decisions about the cremation process and offer personalised services to honour the memory of their loved ones.
In the end, cremation offers a way to respectfully handle a person's remains, allowing families to keep the ashes.
