Why We Charge a Diagnostic Fee
We’re often asked, “Can you tell me what’s wrong with my car… for free?” A real automotive diagnostic is more than a quick code read. It takes time, training, and the expertise to use professional scan tools, scopes, and diagnostic testing equipment — and to interpret the data correctly.
A proper car diagnostic may include reviewing symptoms, test-driving, checking the vehicle’s computer systems, reading live data, testing components, and sometimes removing parts to access wiring or sensors.
A code only shows a symptom, not the cause. A misfire, for example, could be a plug, coil, injector, wiring issue, or computer fault.
A diagnostic fee:
