I had a very disappointing experience at Cayo Dental Kandy during a basic consultation and teeth cleaning appointment for my daughter.
Prior to the visit, I clearly informed the clinic that we would require a claim form for the services provided, and I was assured in advance that this would not be an issue. However, after the teeth cleaning, several concerns arose.
The practitioner who attended to my daughter (it was not clearly communicated whether she was a licensed dental surgeon) informed us that there was a cavity in one tooth and that a filling would be required. When we asked whether the procedure could be done at the same visit, we were asked to check with the front desk. The cashier then advised us that since this was a “young doctor,” it would be better to have the procedure done by a senior doctor, which appeared to be a suggestion primarily aimed at charging a higher fee rather than patient necessity.
More concerning was the issue with documentation. When we requested the bill with the doctor’s signature and official seal for insurance claim purposes, we were provided only with a signature. Upon questioning the absence of a seal, we were informed that the practitioner did not have one. This raised serious concerns regarding whether the practitioner was SLMC-registered and authorized for private practice. We were then told that the seal of a senior doctor could be used, but since the senior doctor was not present that day, this was not possible.
This resulted in a complete waste of time and money. As patients paying a considerable amount, we expect to be treated by properly qualified and registered professionals, not to be placed in situations where credentials and accountability are unclear.
Additionally, even before booking the appointment, we requested basic details of the attending doctor (at least a surname), which the clinic was unable to provide. This lack of transparency seriously questions the credibility and professionalism of the establishment.
Furthermore, in order to obtain the required claim form, we had to visit the clinic on a separate day, where a claim form was eventually provided with the signature and seal of a doctor who was clearly not the practitioner who performed the procedure. This further raises serious concerns regarding the clinic’s credibility, transparency, and professional accountability.
